Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there. During the season we will cover the history of all 30 current Major League franchises. You will get some background, iconic players and moments, and postseason results. For this week, let’s take a look at the Baltimore Orioles who have a long history with many iconic moments and players.
Before the season began, Bryan Reynolds was not expected to make a major impact in Pittsburgh until next year. The Pirates were deep in the outfield after adding Lonnie Chisenhall on a one year deal. So far things have not gone as planned as Chisenhall has yet to appear in a game. Injuries, however, have given Reynolds an opportunity and he has shined. The former top prospect has not only been an offensive force but one of the majors best rookies.
Now that the MLB Draft is over, let’s take a look back at the first round, grading every pick. Note that these are rough grades, as most, if not all, of these guys, won’t see the Majors for at least two-three years, if at all. It is hard to judge what they will do and things can always change.
Our writers giving grades: Alex Kielar (AK), Gio Damico (GD), Joey Ricotta (JR), and Jamie Gatlin (JG).

JTG Daugherty Racing driver Ryan Preece is currently one of the NASCAR Sunoco Rookie of the Year favorites. In the first 15 races if this season, he has two top 10s, a top five, and the best finish a third at Talladega. These aren’t spectacular stats, but they’re enough to put him ahead in the running for Rookie of the Year. Preece has shown signs of being a good driver and, for a rookie, has really been impressive in his first year. The only issue with him is the lack of experience and time driving in the top three NASCAR series.
Sunday night was supposed to be a great night for Boston fans everywhere. The Boston Bruins were in an elimination game in the Stanley Cup Finals and had a chance to force a decisive Game 7 at the Garden on Wednesday. But by the end of the night, the concern wasn’t on what to make for the Game 7 watch party, but the health of the most impactful athlete in Boston history: David Ortiz.
Every team has signed contracts they regret. Here are the worst contracts for the teams in the American League East. Stay tuned for the rest of the teams, division by division.
