Madison Bumgarner has signed a 5-year/$85 million contract with the division rival Arizona Diamondbacks. The big lefty played an integral role in the San Francisco Giants winning three championships in five years at the beginning of the decade. Here’s what he brings to his new team.

Brett Gardner was drafted by the Yankees in 2005 out of the College of Charleston and returns to them on another one-year deal, worth $12.5 million with a $10 million option for 2021. A few teams were interested in multi-year deals with Gardner, but he showed his loyalty in preferring to stay with the Yankees. The veteran outfielder and clubhouse leader made his debut in 2008 and is the last remaining player from the Yankees’ last World Series victory in 2009, his first full year with the club.

Anthony Rendon has signed with the Los Angeles Angels for 7-yrs/$245 million. There are no deferred payments, he has a full no-trade clause and there are no opt-outs. Gerrit Cole was drafted first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2011 MLB Draft out of UCLA. He made his debut in 2013 with the Pirates, where he pitched for five seasons, before being traded to the Houston Astros in the offseason following the 2017 season. He has been one of the best pitchers in the game the last two seasons and had his best season to date this past year.
