Cashner Moved to Bullpen

Prior to the game on Monday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced Andrew Cashner would be moved to the bullpen. When asked if this was a permanent move, Cora said that they would have to take it day by day.

Cashner was acquired from the Orioles mid-July and has since gone just 1-4 in six starts with an 8.01 ERA. Cora described Cashner as a “short-stint guy” and pointed out his fastball velocity as a positive from his last start.

Cashner was set to start Wednesday against the Indians. That starter is now undetermined but should be decided by Tuesday.
