Earlier this week the Carolina Panthers, made some roster adjustments by releasing Rashaan Gaulden and promoting Garrett McGhin to the active roster while also signing kicker Greg Joseph to the practice squad. Now, it has been announced that Dontari Poe and Greg Van Roten have both been placed on injured reserve with season-ending injuries they suffered against New Orleans last Sunday.
Poe, out with a quad injury, has been with the Panthers for eight years and has only missed two games during that time. Meanwhile, Van Roten, out with a toe injury, hasn’t missed a start since the start of the 2018 season. Poe has recorded 22 total tackles and four sacks on the season, and Van Roten has been an integral part of the offensive line in his time with Carolina.
With these two starters out for the season, the Panthers signed two defensive linemen to complete their roster. Woodrow Hamilton, who participated in Carolina’s training camp after playing with the Patriots and the New York Giants in the last three years, inked a deal, as did Stacy McGhee, who played for the Washington Redskins from 2017 to 2018 and started his career with the Raiders. The latter has 116 tackles and four sacks in his 75 career games.
The Panthers play McGhee’s former team on Sunday when they meet the Washington Redskins at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
