Can Paris Saint-Germain Eliminate Bayern Munich?

Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich

As luck would have it, Paris Saint-Germain is taking on Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of this year’s UEFA Champions League. Bayern Munich (last year’s champions) have not slowed down and have only gotten better. Paris Saint-Germain has improved, but continues to face a few problems with regards to injuries and playing style.

For Les Parisiens, this is a huge opportunity to exact revenge on the club that won the title at their expense in the final last year. PSG wants to become the second French club to hoist the title. Over the last few years, they have secured a respectable amount of domestic titles. However, they want the Champions League title more than anything and are determined to bring it to Paris. First, they must find a way to eliminate Bayern Munich.

How Can Paris Saint-Germain Pull It Off?

They need to put the ball in the back of the net. Their inability to score is what doomed them in the final last year. Kylian Mbappe just scored four goals against Barcelona in the Round of 16. No doubt, he will need to score a few against Bayern Munich. Les Parisiens can only hope that Neymar will be good to go by the time the two clubs square off on April 7 in Munich. Paris Saint-Germain’s attack is going to need to be in top form and at full strength.

FC Bayern’s attack has scored 23 goals, so PSG’s defense certainly has their work cut out for them. Robert Lewandowski is arguably the biggest threat to the defense of Les Parisiens. However, the likes of Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane cannot be forgotten. Of course, aside from Mbappe, PSG has the likes of Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti, and Moise Kean on their side. A healthy Neymar just adds more strength, provided he’s 100 percent.

At this point, it’s safe to say that both defenses will have a lot on their plate dealing with the opposing attacks. However, in PSG’s case, their defense will have to find a way to be the better one. Their objective is to avoid conceding goals at all costs while hoping that their attack can score.

For Les Parisiens, it’s going to take a well-balanced team to keep the pressure off their back. They will need to dominate the pitch from beginning to end. They cannot afford Bayern Munich any opportunities whatsoever as the German club can cash in anytime on any opportunity.

In other words, PSG has to keep both games in their favor, and more importantly, in their advantage.
