The Buffalo Sabres are nowhere near a playoff spot, so they will end up being sellers at this year’s trade deadline. General manager Kevyn Adams has indicated that Buffalo is open to any trade suggestions or ideas and is not closing the door on anything. Keep in mind that Buffalo does not have quite the attractive cache of veterans that would catch the eye of a playoff-bound team. Adams will be looking to accumulate some picks or young players to build a new Sabres team. To do that, he will have to take a hard look at what he has, players and prospects, to see if any of them are worth letting go.

Colin Miller
Miller was on-pace for a 31-point season, his most since 2017-18, as well as a career-high in blocks before his injury. Buffalo might not want to give him up now that he is back in the lineup. However, his cap hit at $3.875 million might tell a different tale if the offer is just right for Adams’ vision for the Sabres. Miller’s success before his injury might be what teams are looking for in their second or third pairings. Miller is an established veteran, and with Buffalo continuing to give ice time to the younger players, Miller might find a home on a team who will allow him to do what he does best.
Mark Pysyk
Pysyk is a right-handed defenseman, and there might be a few teams interested in him. Teams have been in the past; it would be no surprise if someone took a chance on his this year. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent and has a cap hit of $900,000, though there would be an expected pay raise. Pysyk is a reliable veteran player with two goals and nine assists in 60 games with81 blocks and 40 hits. This may not be the most remarkable year for Psysyk, but he’s not been bad for Buffalo. His veteran status and locker room presence would fit in with any team. There would be nothing wrong with Buffalo keeping him if they can’t find the proper return in a trade.
Victor Olofsson
This season Olofsson has been inconsistent for the Sabres. When you compare his stats from previous seasons to this one, they are not too far off. However, if Buffalo doesn’t want to wait him out, several teams could use an extra forward for their second or third line. Olofsson garnered 11 goals and 17 assists in 52 games, and with a cap hit of $3.05 million, he might fit in with a playoff team or a team looking to ease their way into a playoff spot.
