Over the years, David Krejci has been a constant presence in the Bruins’ lineup. As a result, the veteran center has become a staple on the second line since making his NHL debut 14 years ago. Despite missing six games due to an upper-body injury earlier in the year, this season has been no different. His impact was again on display Tuesday night when the Bruins needed it the most.
Through twelve games this season, Krejci has two goals and seven assists. The former second-round pick has been productive on the power play, where he has three points. Krejci also has the fifth-most points on the team and fourth-most of all forwards. While that is where Krejci usually finds himself, it is impressive considering how much time he has already missed.
Furthermore, Krejci has been in top form since returning from the injured reserve. The second-line center has eight points in his last seven games, including two goals. Although the Bruins have struggled as of late, Krejci has brought consistency to a second line that has already undergone many changes. He also has multiple points in four games during that span.
While Krejci is one of the Bruins’ most talented players, he also brings out the best in his linemates such as Danton Heinen. With injuries mounting, Heinen has seen a lot of time on the second line where he has thrived. Even with Jake DeBrusk out of the lineup, the duo was impressive Tuesday night as they combined for three points and factored into two of the Bruins four goals.

Furthermore, the chemistry on the Bruins second unit has been a welcoming sign since Krejci’s return. The veteran has seemingly always had rotating linemates but could have something more consistent with Heinen and DeBrusk once he is healthy. Krejci’s presence has made the Bruins’ second line difficult to face, which is when the Bruins are at their best.
Coming into this season, Krejci was coming one of the most impressive years of his career. The 33-year-old was able to reach the 70-point plateau last season and tie a career-high with 73 points. With the Bruins in need of a spark, they are hoping Krejci can stay hot and be that player again as they hope to rediscover their magic from a few weeks ago.
