The Cleveland Browns have risen from the grave.
From 0-16 to 7-8-1, this team has become a contender. This also means that the Browns have a higher chance of signing some of the best free agents this year. This is a series that I will be doing until the start of free agency. The Browns need a linebacker so I will start with three linebackers who the Browns might try to pick up in Free Agency.
1. C.J. Mosley (Baltimore Ravens)
Mosley was the young athlete that ended the Browns’ chances at having a winning season. Mosley had 70 tackles while signal calling for the best defense in the league. While signing him is a long shot with the Ravens seeking an extension, the Browns could get an opportunity and he is certainly a good option.
Anthony Barr (Minnesota Vikings)
Barr is the next linebacker who the Browns should be looking at. Barr is a guy who’s stats last season make it seem like it was a down year, but he was dealing with an injury. After his break, he recorded three sacks and racked up 39 tackles in 13 games. Barr is being looked at by several teams, and having him as a versatile cover/rush linebacker can give a team’s quarterback nightmares.
Jadeveon Clowney (Houston Texans)
Here’s a long shot who would be maybe the best pick up this year if the Texans do not franchise tag him. Clowney had nine sacks this season in 15 games. With Myles Garrett, Larry Ogunjobi, and Genard Avery, the Browns defensive line would easily be one of the best in the league. In a division known for having great defenses, it would be no surprise if GM John Dorsey takes a big step forward for defensive coordinator Steve Wilks and brings Cleveland another superstar.
