Brooklyn Nets Trade Targets

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are one of the hottest teams in the NBA. They went 10-4 in the month of February and head coach, Steve Nash, won the coach of the month award. The Nets could look to add to their already talented roster featuring stars in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden prior to the trade deadline in order to boost their chances at winning the NBA Finals. Let’s take a look at three players who they could pursue before the deadline.

P.J. Tucker

Tucker is a defensive-minded player who multiple contending teams such as the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks are pursuing. Brooklyn gives up 116.2 points per game which ranks 27th in the NBA. Tucker is a physical defender who uses his strength and aggression to make plays in order to make up for being undersized at the forward position. The Rockets are requesting players rather than picks in a trade for Tucker, so if the Nets can work out a deal for him at the right price, Tucker would significantly help the Nets versatility as a team.

Nerlens Noel

Noel could be an option for Brooklyn to bring off of the bench in order to provide defensive help. He is averaging two blocks and 0.9 steals in just 21.5 minutes per game this season. Noel will not be able to provide much on the offensive end of the floor but he is fantastic at defense which is the type of player the Nets need right now. He is an athletic big man who has an outstanding defensive rating of 101.4 this season. Noel won’t come at a hefty price and his defense will prove to be worthy come playoff time if the Nets chose to trade for him.

JaVale McGee

McGee was a part of the Los Angeles Lakers when they won the finals last season and his defense was one of the many reasons the Lakers won. The Nets’ paint defense needs work and McGee would be able to help tremendously. With the Cleveland Cavaliers, he is averaging 1.2 blocks per game this season, but it looks as if the Cavaliers are looking to move on from the veteran big man after trading for Jarrett Allen recently. If the Nets can add McGee, he would be able to improve the Nets’ paint defense significantly.
