After getting released by the Indianapolis Colts just a day ago, the Patriots are signing a quarterback that they are familiar with. The Patriots have signed 34-year-old quarterback Brian Hoyer to a one year contract.
Hoyer was originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent back in 2009 and spent the next three seasons in New England. He then went on and played the next several seasons between several teams before returning to New England in 2017 and 2018 and took home a Super Bowl 53 ring.
Here is a list of teams that the veteran quarterback played for:
- Pittsburgh Steelers (2012)
- Arizona Cardinals (2012)
- Cleveland Browns (2013–2014)
- Houston Texans (2015)
- Chicago Bears (2016)
- San Francisco 49ers (2017)
- New England Patriots (2017–2018)
- Indianapolis Colts (2019)
In his career, Hoyer has played in 67 games, starting 38 of those. He has thrown 1477 passes for 10274 yards, and scored 52 touchdowns while being the victim of 34 interceptions.
The Patriots will bring Brian Hoyer back to join Jarrett Stidham and Cody Kessler. The Patriots will be searching for an answer at quarterback long terms and don’t really even have a starter for the short term. Maybe they will draft someone to fill that bill.
