The NFL has announced that it will suspend Browns running back Kareem Hunt for eight games due to a violation of the league’s personal-conduct policy. The news was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He does not plan on appealing his suspension.

In November, a video was released showing Hunt kicking and shoving a woman at a Cleveland hotel in February 2018. The Kansas City Chiefs promptly cut the star running back after the video emerged, but he was never arrested or charged for the incident. He signed a deal with the Cleveland Browns in February 2019.
Dan Saffron, Hunt’s agent and the CEO of Player First Sports Agency, released a statement on the suspension:
PFS Agency stands behind our client, Kareem Hunt, in his decision to accept the suspension handed down by the NFL today. We want to thank the Browns for the unwavering support they have shown Kareem. We also want to acknowledge the NFLPA, who has provided a great deal of guidance for Kareem throughout the process.
The Browns will still be in a good situation at running back even with Hunt’s absence, as Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson will take on the role. The possibility of Hunt being traded has not been ruled out either.
Last season, Hunt played and started in 11 games for the Chiefs. In that span, he had 181 carries for 824 yards and seven rushing touchdowns, while also being a factor in the receiving game, making 26 catches for 378 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. Back in his rookie season in 2017, he was selected to the Pro Bowl after posting 272 carries, 1327 yards, and eight rushing touchdowns. He was a reliable receiver out of the backfield in his rookie year too, making 43 catches for 455 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
If Hunt does indeed return to the field, he has the potential of being surrounded by a young, talented Browns offense that includes newly-acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham, receiver Jarvis Landry, quarterback Baker Mayfield, tight end David Njoku, and many more offensive threats.
