Breaking: Grizzlies Trade Andre Iguodala to Heat

Over the past few weeks, it became more and more inevitable that the Memphis Grizzlies were going to trade Andre Iguodala; on Wednesday, they made that a formality by trading him to the Miami Heat.

The Heat also agreed to a two-year extension worth $30 million with the veteran swingman.

Iguodala, who just turned 36 last Tuesday, has been holding out since being traded to Memphis on July 7, and last played in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals for the Golden State Warriors.

Over the past five seasons, Iguodala is averaging 6.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting the three-ball at a 34 percent clip.

Miami, who entered play on Wednesday a game-and-a-half behind the Toronto Raptors for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, have added another veteran leader with three-point prowess to complement Jimmy Butler as well as rookie phenom Tyler Herro.

Does this get Miami over the hump in the East? Time will tell, but this is definitely a step towards achieving that goal for Pat Riley, Erik Spoelstra, and the rest of South Beach Nation.
