A player once expected to achieve stardom in South Beach has seen his stock as a player skyrocket since being traded to Milwaukee.

2018 National League MVP, and 2019 runner-up, Christian Yelich is nearing a contract extension that is expected to be seven years at $190 million in totality according to Ken Rosenthal.

Yelich has come off two historic campaigns, accumulating a slash line of .327/.415/.631 with a wRC+ of 170. He’s also added 80 home runs, 63 doubles, and has driven in 207 runs. However, his 2019 was shortened due to a leg injury sustained in September.

This extension of seven years will be added onto Yelich’s remaining contract, spanning now from 2020 to 2028 and will be worth approximately $215 million on that front.

One of the best players in the game is staying put in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future, and likely the remainder of his career as he’ll be 37 upon conclusion of this deal. However, it should be a very strong investment for both parties involved.
