New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appeared in the Netflix comedy series “Living With Yourself.”
While it is common for athletes to appear briefly in films and television, this kind not so much.
Brady appeared as himself walking out of a massage parlor asking Paul Rudd’s character whether it was his first time attending.
Brady’s answer was his sixth time going.
What makes it awkward is that his owner Robert Kraft is dealing with a scandal of his own that came out when he attended Orchids of Asia Spa in Jupiter, Florida.
The six-time Super Bowl champion immediately defended his decision to make the appearance and shot down that it had to do with his owner.
“It’s not what that was about,” Brady said per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “I think that was taken out of context just like you’re taking out of context and trying to make it a story for yourself, which has a negative connotation to it, which I don’t appreciate.”
Brady claims the pilot was written four years ago and is disappointed that reporters would speculate that it was a shot at Kraft.
“It’s unfortunate that people would choose to think I would do something like that about Mr. Kraft,” Brady said.
Brady and the Patriots face the New York Jets on Monday at 8:15 p.m.
