Brady Throws Shade at Eli Manning After Announcing Retirement

Quarterbacks Tom Brady and Eli Manning are not exactly the best of friends on the field.

But that does not mean they do not respect each other off of the field. After Manning announced his retirement, Brady took to social media to congratulate the now former New York Giant on a decorated career.

But, still wishes he could have those Super Bowls.

The six-time Super Bowl winner is clearly referring to the 2007 and 2011 championships that Manning bested him in.

The first in 2007, dashed the Patriots’ hopes of ending the year with the first 19-0 season in league history.

In 2011, the Patriots and Giants met in the big game a second time with Manning getting the best of Brady yet again.

Manning told Albert Breer in response to the Tweet, that the two do have playful banter about it from time to time. But only one gets a kick out of it.

“We joke about it a little bit,” Manning told Breer. “But it’s not real funny to him.”

  1. Loved this! Of course Brady would give Eli props but at the same time … why would he have wanted to ever get defeated in the Super Bowl – if he wasn’t nothing would make sense! LOL! What I look forward to is the potential for the Manning NFL legacy to continue. Archie has said Cooper’s son (nephew of Eli and Peyton, Archie’s grandson – for anyone who doesn’t know Cooper), Arch, is ahead of where Eli and Peyton were as high school freshman … so there’s a very good chance that there will be another Manning, possibly more, who will become successful NFL stars!! The thought of that – three generations, is quite amazing!! Congrats on a Great Career Eli!!!!
