Antonio Brown amid all of his allegations, practiced for the first time with his new team.
The biggest part other than meshing with the culture, is getting on the same wavelength as Tom Brady.
The six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback was happy to get on the field with his new receiver after having a couple of days to get to know him.
“Like a lot of new players, we are just trying to get up to speed, there’s a lot to learn,” Brady told reporters. “Coming in this time of [the football] year is challenging and happens a lot with different players changing teams and so forth, so we’re just trying to do the best we can do.”
Brady told reporters the things that stood out about Brown’s skillset on the field in his first day.
“He’s a very productive receiver,” Brady said. “He’s done a lot of things in the league, he’s been a great player for a long time.”
Brady was also asked about the fact that they were both sixth-round draft selections in their respective classes. He claims that there is proof in the pudding that being a low draft pick means nothing.
“I think you look at a guy like Julian and a lot of guys we have here that are undrafted, I think there’s a lot of things you can’t evaluate at the combine are probably things that help prolong their career,” Brady said. “You learn different skillsets when you’re not the top pick like learning hard work, continuous improvement, discipline. Sometimes I think the guys who are not the top picks realize that it is working and they need to keep doing it and I think it’s a disadvantage when you’re a high pick and everyone is telling you how great you are all the time”
When asked about the living situation between the two, Brady scoffed.
“Yeah I’m not getting into that so yeah,” Brady laughed.
Brady emphasized that it is only Week 2 and that the whole team including Brown, have a ways to go to get where they need to be.
“Like all of us there’s a lot of work to do,” Brady said on Brown. “Where we are today is going to be different from weeks from now, we have to go out there to do it and to do it, it takes a lot of effort and commitment.”
When asked about his thoughts the allegations made against Brown and if he would comment, Brady just said, ‘No.’
