It didn’t take long for the leader of the New England Patriots offense to remark on his newest weapon.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was asked by Westwood One about what he thought about the trade hoping that Josh Gordon does well. However considering the flow of wide receivers coming and going, he’s keeping his expectations modest.
“I am going to do what I have done the last couple of weeks and just try and work with whoever is there, and see if they can come in and make an impact and make a role on this team,” Brady told Westwood One. “It is really up to the individual what kind of role they can carve out for themselves. That is kind of how I feel. I am not making — I hate to make projections and expectations. That’s not fair and I have never met Josh personally, just like I hadn’t met some of the guys who have come in the last couple of weeks.”
But that doesn’t mean the reigning NFL MVP isn’t holding out hope stating that he is indeed excited to see what Gordon can do on the field.
“We’ll see how it goes this week,” Brady continued. “Hopefully he can work hard, put the team first and end up helping us in any role he can find for himself on the team.”
The Patriots are preparing to take on their former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions on Sunday night with Gordon expected to take the field for practice in the coming days.
