Bradley Beal Aware of Heat Fan Love on Social Media

Jacari McRae | September 27th, 2019

Pat Riley finally landed an all-star this off-season in Jimmy Butler. After landing Butler, the Miami Heat‘s focus now is pairing him with another all-star. To aide the Heat in their quest, Heat fans have been taking matters into their own hands through social media.

For the past three months, on literally every Bradley Beal tweet, Heat fans have been trying to persuade Beal to join Miami. Beal, who’s at the top of the Heat’s star wish list, is well aware of all the Heat fan love on his tweets.

“It’s hard to avoid it. I have a phone so I see it all,” Beal said this week, via NBC.com, speaking, in general, of fans who want him to join their team. “I can post a picture of Deuce and someone will be like ‘Man, he needs some Miami sun!’ and I’m like ‘OK?’

“It’s a great thing that a lot of people love your game and want you on their team, but I love the situation I have too.”

Beal is currently mulling over a three-year, $111 million extension the Washington Wizards offered him this off-season. The Wizards guard has until Oct. 21 to make a decision.

“Honestly you might slap me, but I haven’t thought about it,” Beal said. “I’m just getting better and letting my agent [Mark Bartelstein and Wizards general manager] Tommy [Sheppard] and everybody else deal with it.

Jackson also noted that a source told him he would be surprised if Beal accepts the extension. According to Jackson’s source, Beal is expected to play out the season with Washington first before deciding on his future. Beal is still under contract for the next two years and will be eligible for a five-year supermax extension worth an estimated $220 million next summer if he makes one of the three All-NBA teams this upcoming season.

If he’s not eligible for the supermax or decides to turn down the offer, Beal will likely enter what is expected to be a deep 2021 free agency class. If Beal enters free agency, the Heat will likely offer him the max with their available cap space. However, should Beal become available on the trade market, the Heat and other teams will try to land him before then.

Last season, Beal became one of six players in the league to average 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
