Quarterback is a position of huge proportion in the New England area and while one Tom Brady is traveling the world, another quarterback is hard at work on his craft.
Massachusetts Pirates quarterback Sean Brackett started his career with the Arena Football League’s Utah Blaze. But before he could play, the team subsequently went on hiatus putting Brackett on the market.
Brackett would next join the Las Vegas Outlaws and taking over for J.J Raterink after he sustained an injury. He went on to throw 22 touchdowns with only seven interceptions, also rushing for six rushing touchdowns.
Brackett then played in China for the Qingdao Clipper team before going to the Washington Valor and having a great season scoring 39 total touchdowns with only 10 interceptions.
“I’m a dual threat,” Brackett said. “I can run but I definitely want to increase my accuracy as the season goes on.”
His accuracy definitely has been improving as Brackett led the Pirates to a 63-56 victory against the current National Arena League champion Jacksonville Sharks.
Despite losing to the Carolina Cobras this past week, Brackett has yet to be sacked through three games of the season. In humble fashion, the quarterback said part of the reason for his great play, was the protection of his line.
“I want to give a shoutout to my offensive line,” Brackett said. “Those guys have been awesome keeping me upright on every play so far this year.”
Though he’s 26 and has bounced around leagues, he has taken advantage of this opportunity by just doing what he loves.
“All I want to do is play football,” Brackett said. “All I need is a shot whether it’s in the AFL, NFL or CFL.”
From China to Jacksonville, Brackett has played football everywhere looking for his chance and now with his opportunity in the CFL, he just may have caught his break but in the end, he is living his dream—to play football.
