Bosh on Bam Adebayo: ‘The sky’s the limit for him’

Jacari McRae| September 17th, 2019

There’s been a lot of optimism surrounding the Miami Heat this off-season. Not only because of the new addition of all-star forward Jimmy Butler but also because of Bam Adebayo. By trading Hassan Whiteside to Portland, the Heat are showing they fully believe in Adebayo. Another person who’s also very high on Adebayo is Chris Bosh.

The two-time NBA champion worked out with Adebayo over the summer, and after spending time with the young center, Bosh believes the center has another level to reach.

“If we’re talking about raw, natural talent, he’s got all that,” Bosh said, via David Ramil of Forbes. “The sky’s the limit for him.”

Bosh believes the only thing that’s keeping Bam from being one of the best centers in the league is himself.

“For him it’s all about confidence and what he really sees himself doing…now, it’s just about focusing on the thinking portion of the game.”

And Bosh is right. There were moments throughout last season where Adebayo was hesitant to take open shots. If Bam plays with more confidence offensively, it can not only help him but also his teammates. With Jimmy Butler being the only all-star on the roster, he’s going to need more players to help him offensively.

Bosh later discussed Adebayo’s Team USA experience, which was cut short due to Bam being cut before the team headed off to China for the now concluded World Cup. While Bosh was surprised about Adebayo being cut, he believes the 22-year old can use the experience as motivation for the season.

“And whatever happened [with Team USA], he can take that with him and I hope it puts a chip on his shoulder for the season…because he’s gonna need it.”

An 11-time all-star and two-time NBA champion, Bosh knows what it takes to reach the next level. And if Bam takes Bosh’s advice, then the sky will truly be the limit.
