Bogdan Bogdanovic Signs Offer Sheet with Atlanta Hawks

Bogdan Bogdanovic signs offer sheet with Hawks

Restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic has signed an offer sheet with the Atlanta Hawks. Marc Stein reports the deal includes a fourth-year player option, as well as a 15-percent trade kicker.

The Sacramento Kings will have 48 hours from when the offer sheet was signed to match it. If they elect to not match the offer sheet, Bogdanovic will join the Hawks.

The Hawks Continue Retooling

The move continues a very active offseason for the Atlanta Hawks. They have bolstered their roster in free agency and appear to be one of the most improved teams during the period. Atlanta agreed to terms with Danilo Gallinari on a three-year, $61.5 million dollar contract on the opening night of free agency.

They’ve also agreed to deals with free agents Rajon Rondo and Kris Dunn to improve their backcourt around the face of the franchise Trae Young. If Bogdanovic’s deal is not matched by the Kings, the Hawks will take another step toward competing for the eastern conference playoffs next season.

Bogdanovic is coming off a career-best season with the Kings. The Serbian shooting guard averaged 15.1 points per game on 44% shooting from the field. He also added 3.4 rebounds and assists per contest. His ability to play both on and off-ball would fit perfectly with guys like Young and Galo who can score on or off the ball.

Obviously, the ball will be in Young’s hands most of the time when he is on the court. The Hawks are adding players that both compliment him and can take some of the pressure off of him. The latest agreement is another move that fits that strategy.

For now, they wait until the Kings make a decision on matching the contract.
