Final Score: Buffalo Bills 20, Kansas City Chiefs 17

Both teams’ fans knew it would be a hard-fought game. However, no one could possibly see issues with the referees interfering with the game. Right? Despite a last-minute stand, the Kansas City Chiefs lost one again in the regular season to the Buffalo Bills 20-17.

Why did the Bills win? It was not the referees. They kept the Kansas City offense off the field, especially in the fourth quarter. On the other side of the ball, the defense for the Chiefs was not as aggressive as they could have been in the play calling. That is on Steve Spagnuolo. Also, the defense for the Bills did an admirable job of keeping the pressure on Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs’ offense.

Kansas City also missed Isiah Pacheco for the run game. James Cook reminded them of that and showed how well the Bills running game was able to perform. Kansas City had difficulty figuring out how to cover him when they did an excellent job keeping Stefon Diggs and other players for the Bills in check.

Penalties. The Chiefs have had an issue with them this season; this game was no exception. The one that hurt the most was the offsides called on Kadarius Toney, which negated what would have been the game-winning touchdown by Toney after Travis Kelce lateraled the ball to him.

The Bill came to play at Arrowhead, and the Chiefs still seem stuck in whatever rut they have been in all season. The offense is off, the penalties have been more than usual, and fans have never been more upset with the team. At least since before Andy Reid appeared on the scene.

So, what does this victory mean for the Bills? They keep their playoff hopes alive for another week.

How does this defeat affect the Chiefs? It leaves players and fans frustrated yet again.

Highlights

Looking Forward

Of the four games the Bills have remaining, they should be able to defeat the Chargers and the Patriots. They will have a more difficult time against the Cowboys and the Dolphins. If they continue to play well and plan for each team as they did for the Chiefs, they will be looking good come playoff time. Their next game is at home against the Cowboys, who just came off of a victory over the Eagles. The Bills must be as aggressive defensively against Dallas as they were against Kansas City. Perhaps even more so.

The Chiefs have two more AFC West opponents, the Raiders and the Chargers. They also will have to face the Patriots and the Bengals. It seems like it might be easy to win at least three of the last four games; however, with how the Chiefs have played all season, nothing is certain anymore. The Chiefs will need to get out to a better start offensively, be more aggressive defensively, and cut those penalties out.
