Heading into the 2018 season the one or the biggest needs for the Buffalo Bills was along the offensive line. After one of the worst statistical season the biggest need for the Bills once again in the offensive line. This year’s draft has some prospects that can be all-pros.
So heading into the 2019 NFL Draft offensive line is going to be a focal point for the Bills. Here is a player that could be available when the Bills select at nine.
NAME: Jawaan Taylor
SCHOOL: Florida
POSITION: Offensive Tackle
CLASS: Junior
RECRUITMENT RATING: 3-star
HT: 6’5
WT: 334 lbs
Strengths:
Pass protection: Smooth and always in control when dropping into his pass set. He makes it hard for defenders to slide inside with his mobility and athletic enough to ride pass the QB on the speed rush.
Leverage: When he drops his pad level he is able to use his power. Then he is able to reset the line of scrimmage and movement off the ball.
Toughness: No concerns here. Plays physical and doesn’t get pushed around, which is something the Bills offensive line struggled with throughout the 2018 campaign.
Football IQ: Does a great job adjusting based on the defender’s alignment. Shows the ability to recognize stunts or twist pre-snap.
Weakness:
Hands: Taylor has a great first punch, but tends to lose hand placement. When he loses hand placement he tends to take holding penalties. Something he will really need to improve upon if he hopes to make it in the NFL.
Taylor has elite size, length and strength to translate to the NFL. He is a prospect on the rise and the tools to play day one. The mental aspect of the game is there and with the right coaching can be an all-pro
