Final Score: Bengals 25, Chiefs 26ย

In what has become a must-watch rivalry over the past few seasons, the Cincinnati Bengals came to Arrowhead to try and get their first victory of the season. It was certainly a nail-biter, with both teams duking it out. The Bengals were the better team overall, and arguably, Patrick Mahomes has one of the worst games of his career. However, the Chiefs were still able to come out on top with the win 26-25.

The Bengals got on the board first with a field goal from kicker Evan McPherson. Not too long after that, Harrison Butker got the Chiefs on the board to tie it at three. In the first quarter, Mahomes threw an interception, and Bengals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaether got the ball back for the Bengals.

Joe Burrow found Andrei Iosivas to give the Bengals the lead back. The Chiefs were able to even it up with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice. McPherson kicked a 33-yard field goal to give the Bengals the lead late in the second quarter. Not too long after that, Germaine Pratt forced a fumble. With another field goal, the Bengals were up 16-10.

To open the second half, the Chiefs took the ball down, and a Mahomes pass to offensive lineman Wanya Morris put them back on top. Burrow connected with Iosiva again to put them ahead of the Chiefs, but McPherson missed the extra point.

The defense for the Bengals forced another surprising interception from Mahomes, and this time, Cam Taylor-Britt was able to come down with the ball for Cincinnati. However, Burrow fumbled when sacked on a third down, and Chamarri Conner returned the fumble for a touchdown. Kansas City made a 2-point attempt, but it was unsuccessful. The Bengals took the ball down, and McPherson made a 53-yard field goal to put the Bengals ahead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game.

The Bengals stopped the Chiefs late in the fourth quarter, but they gave the ball back to Kansas City after Burrow was sacked again. Cincinnati had the game in hand and had stopped the Chiefs when they were called for a pass interference penalty. That penalty let the Chiefs get closer to field goal range, and a few players later, Butker nailed a 51-yard field goal.
