Final Score: Chicago Bears 10, Kansas City Chiefs 41

Going into the game, no one thought the Bears were really going to win, especially given their two previous games and all the off-field issues going on. Besides, it was the Chiefs they were taking on. Justin Fields has not been the player he was last season and has not been able to live up to the offseason hype. However, it is not all his fault. Kansas City was expected to win and did so in a 41-10 non-barnburner of a game.

The biggest storyline from this game may be that Taylor Swift was watching the game from the suites with Mama Kelce and others. Her relationship status with Travis Kelce is still up in the air and unknown, but what we do know is that the Chiefs looked more comfortable on offense. Granted, they were playing the Chicago Bears; however, the Chiefs have looked shaky the last few games, so maybe they were able to get it together enough that there will be no issues going forward.

It’s interesting to note that the Bears have not won in Kansas City since Week 5 of the 2015 season. Today was no exception. The Chiefs got out to a start and were on a roll. A hiccup occurred just before halftime when Patrick Mahomes‘ ankle was rolled. You could hear everyone in Chiefs Kingdom inhale sharply and think thoughts of last season. Mahomes would return in the second half and find Kelce open for a touchdown. After that drive, Blaine Gabbert took over the reins at the QB position. He did not hurt the team, but the Chiefs did not put up any more points. It took until the 4th quarter before the Bears could put some points on the board.

The Bears lost this game because the offense had no sense of direction. It is uncertain if the issue is the coaching, the quarterback, the offensive line, or any of the public relations, good and bad, that is going on in the background. Or a combination of them all. However, something has to give. The drive for the touchdown in the 4th quarter was 75 yards, which was more than one-third of their offense in the day. Their second-longest drive was 31 yards, which occurred on their second possession of the game.

Highlights

Looking Forward

The Bears will be facing the Denver Broncos on October 1. Both teams are 0-3, so whoever is the victor will get their first win of the season. The Bears have the capability, as they’ve had all season. They will need to get their act together to have any hope of salvaging the season. The spotlight will be on the coaching staff, especially head coach Matt Eberflus.

The Chiefs take on the New York Jets in what should have been a QB shootout between Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately, fans will not get that. The Chiefs should be able to take care of the Jets if they show up and play. With their offense looking better and defense on point, it should be another game in the win column.
