Finally, after about a month of sitting and waiting to find out what would be changed to franchise mode, we have our answers. On Monday,
In today’s NFL and college football communities, most people are now focused on the next players that are going to opt-out of the 2020 seasons.
Running backs aren’t sought after as much as they once were. Whenever one asks for a new contract in the eight-figure a year range, most of the media laughs and says that running backs aren’t worth that. Recent holdouts by Le’Veon Bell and Melvin Gordon didn’t net them the contracts that they were looking for even by their new teams. Of course, there are running backs around the league who have been paid those eight-figure contracts who haven’t lived up to those contracts due to conflicts with the coaching staff or injuries. Devonta Freeman falls into that category.
There are plenty of players that go on to small schools and burst onto the NFL radar during the said time at the small schools. This year, two second-round selections were spent on Kyle Dugger and Jeremy Chinn from Lenoir Rhyne and Southern Illinois respectively. Even some quarterbacks have come from small schools in recent years, most notably Carson Wentz and Jimmy Garoppolo.
By now, you’ve probably heard that one, if not the most loyal fanbase EA Sports has, the Madden franchise community, isn’t very happy. Once details came out as to what was added in Madden 21, franchise gamers were furious to see that the new game was mostly a patch to the prior game with the biggest addition being that there would be 14 teams in the playoffs to match what was happening in the league. Besides that though, there was practically nothing added.
For two consecutive years, a lack of a penalty cost the Saints a chance at the Super Bowl. New Orleans now has the chance to
The Kansas City Chiefs are at the top of the mountain as they are the defending Super Bowl Champions. Behind their now half-billion quarterback, Patrick Mahomes and a plethora of other playmakers on offense, the Chiefs are ready to make some noise in the playoffs once again, but there are some holes on the roster that keep the Chiefs from the top spot in the power rankings.
The Baltimore Ravens and specifically Lamar Jackson took a major reap forward last year. The coaching staff tailored the offense around Jackson and took off from there. The defense was great last year following the acquisition of Marcus Peters and the front office made more astounding moves during free agency as well as the draft. With another year of learning the offense for Jackson and surrounding him with more weapons and a great defense, the Ravens are ready to make another run at the Super Bowl.
Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers came in with extremely high expectations. Ben Roethlisberger was poised for another strong season and the offense as a whole had many young superstars. Early on though, the season was derailed following a blowout loss to the New England Patriots in week one, and Roethlisberger going down with a season-ending injury in week two. Pittsburgh would start 1-4, but the addition of Minkah Fitzpatrick made the defense one of the best in the league. If it weren’t for the disaster at quarterback led by Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges, the Steelers would’ve made the playoffs. With Roethlisberger returning and the defense remaining mostly intact, the Steelers have a chance to make some noise in the AFC Playoffs.
The 49ers were expected to make the playoffs during the 2018 season, but with Jimmy Garoppolo going down early in the season, that was derailed early. With Nick Bosa added with the second overall pick, the defense became an absolute powerhouse. San Francisco shocked the country by making it to the Super Bowl to only be defeated by Kansas City after holding a lead for the majority of the game. With most of the defense still intact and more weapons on offense, the 49ers are expected to once again make a deep playoff run.
Philadelphia’s season was once again derailed by a Carson Wentz injury. He was hurt on a late hit by Jadeveon Clowney in the wild card round against Seattle. Philadelphia’s receiving core was shredded with injuries at the end of the year and Wentz was throwing to receivers that might not have made another team’s rosters.
