The White Sox farm system has fallen to one of the worst in baseball in 2021. That doesn’t mean it’s a failure by the organization. It means their recent top prospects have made the big club.
The Chicago Cubs have had a mixed bag of success with their recent drafts. This year they mixed in a variety of college and high schoolers as well as a fairly even distribution of position players and pitchers.
Leading up to the draft, three names kept coming up in expert’s mocks for the Chicago White Sox first-round pick: Colson Montgomery, Max Muncy, and Wes Kath. Things could not have worked out better for the White Sox; Montgomery fell to them in the first round and Kath lasted to the second.
The All-Star Game isn’t exactly the halfway point in the season (most teams have played close to 90 games at this point) but it’s a logical stopping point to access which players are dominating. I did this exercise at the quarter-point in the season, it’s interesting to see how things have changed (or not) since then. As the season goes on, we’ll do this again at the three quarters through the year and then at the end of the season. A Rookie of the Year category has been added for this checkpoint and will be included in the two editions later in the season.
Since their World Series victory in 2016, the Cubs have made the playoffs three out of four seasons but won just one series. The team went from long-time lovable losers to a team that was a legitimate underachiever.
It’s incredible that the Chicago White Sox have played so well in 2021 considering all their injuries. Rick Hahn, the White Sox general manager, is aggressive when it comes to trades. He has built the team up over the years to get to the position they are in now.
As the summer heats up, NFL training camps get closer and closer to opening. The Bears will report to Halas Hall in Lake Forest, IL on Tuesday, July 27. It is expected that the biggest decisions the Bears’ coaching staff will have to make will be on the offensive side of the ball.
As of Tuesday, June 8, it appears that there are eight legitimate contenders in the American League. We will take a quick look at each and speculate on what weakness could be their downfall.
There is real optimism with Bears’ fans as the 2021 season approaches. That was not the case as the team finished off the 2020 season. The team suffered from fits and starts all year – winning five of their first six, then dropping six in a row before ending the year winning three of four to eke into the playoffs.
Now that we’re a couple of months into the season, it is interesting to look at some advanced stats that are surprising from various players. So let’s focus on players that have been flying under the radar.
We are now about two months into the 2021 season and it’s amazing how much the early rounds of our fantasy baseball drafts would be if we could go back and get a mulligan. Injuries, of course, have been the main factor but performance issues also play a role as we reassess the decisions that were made a couple of months ago.
How much patience is too much? For category leagues in particular, having pitchers from the list below can crush your fantasy team’s chances. We all know, however, that many players are slow starters or battling a minor injury and will eventually turn their season around.
