The New England Patriots released veteran quarterback Cam Newton on Tuesday, making Mac Jones the starter. While much of the conversation has been about how Jones compares to Tom Brady. Another ripple effect from this is Newton currently doesn’t have a job.

The New York Knicks were the biggest surprise team of last season. Julius Randle played like an MVP candidate during the regular season. Derrick Rose played like it was 2011 and Tom Thibodeau proved he’s the right man for the job.
The Dallas Mavericks are an intriguing team going into this season. Part of the reason why is that most expect them to take another step after finishing fifth in the Western Conference last season. Rick Carlisle stepped down and Jason Kidd was hired as head coach to help mentor Luka Doncic.
The Brooklyn Nets formed arguably the most talented big three in NBA history last season. However, James Harden and Kyrie Irving weren’t able to stay healthy in the playoffs. Their injuries and Joe Harris’ bad shooting performance left Kevin Durant tasked with carrying Brooklyn in the second round. He was inches away from sending them to the conference finals but he watched the Bucks win the title weeks later.
The New York Mets held a firm lead on the rest of the NL East for two months. The keyword is held because they’re currently looking up at the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies.
The New York Knicks entered this offseason with over $50 million in cap room to sign some big free agents but it feels as if they underwhelmed. They may not be done spending but have already locked up a majority of their cap space on four players.
