Around the NBA: (Week 6)

Coach Treal | November 25th, 2019

HAPPY THANKSGIVING HOOPS FAMILY!!!! We are already heading into week six of the NBA season and the play on the court couldn’t be better. The season is starting to take shape and we will dive into the best games of the upcoming week to keep on your radar. The last week of November basketball is here and it’s no looking back as we get into December and the games really starting to count.

Philadelphia 76ers Vs. Toronto Raptors

Philadelphia makes its first trip back to Toronto and the seen of the crime from last seasons playoff heartbreaking loss on that buzzer-beating shot. The team is different for the Raptors but they are still off to a great 11-4 start with Fred Van Vleet and  Pascal Siakam leading the way this year. If Siakam is able to continue this type of play throughout the season he will without question make his first all-star game appearance in Chicago but he will also be in the running for league MVP and  All-NBA honors. Pascal is currently averaging 27.6PPG along with 8RPG and 4APG. The 76ers aren’t holding back this season as they are off to solids starts on both ends of the floor. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons are still leading the charge as they both get used to playing with some very high expectations this season.

Los Angeles Clippers Vs. Dallas Mavericks

This is the game of the week for me as Luka Dončić and Kristaps Porziņģis welcome Kawhi Leonard & Paul George and the rest of Clippers into Dallas. Luka is currently leading the Mavericks on a five-game win streak that is seeing him average 30PPG, 10RPG, and 10APG and coming off another great performance last night (41/10/6) already sitting with nine triple-doubles on the season. This is one of the best runs from a player we have seen in only his second season in the league. The Clippers come into the game riding a five-game winning streak as well so something will come to an end. This game will be a tone-setter for the season for both of these teams as but more so the Mavericks who are still a young team finding their identity looking for a statement win at home.

Los Angeles Lakers Vs. New Orleans Pelicans

The Lakers play a visit to New Orleans with Anthony Davis playing his first game back against his former team. Emotions will be high for this contest as not only will AD be looking for revenge but also the players who he was traded for mainly Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram who were both former #2 picks in the draft by the Lakers. The highly anticipated first showdown between LeBron James and Zion Williamson will have to wait a while longer as Zion hasn’t made it back from his knee injury. LeBron James who is currently leading the entire league in assist per game at 11APG while chipping in 25PPG and 7RPG. The Lakers come into the game tied with the Bucks for the current longest win streak in the league at seven games.

Denver Nuggets Vs. Sacramento Kings

The Nuggets have picked up right where they left off last season and maintained the high-level play as they currently sit at 12-3 while riding a five-game winning streak and in second place of the Western Conference. The Kings started the season off the first five games then word came down that second-year forward Marvin Bagley III would miss time with a broken right thumb. If news couldn’t get any worst star guard De’Aaron Fox hurt his ankle in practice and will be out for a time as well. To their credit, they have pulled together with the next man up mindset and with the victory tonight they have improved to 7-8 on the season. Of course, when we talk about the Nuggets it starts and ends with Nikola Jokić who is rounding into shape and still posting 17PPG, 9RPG along with 6APG. This should be a solid conference game with a lot of high-level players on both teams.
