Arena Football League Midseason Awards

MVP: Tommy Grady, Quarterback, Albany Empire

Grady is no stranger to league MVP talk. He is a two time Arena Football League MVP with Salt Lake City in 2012 and Albany in 2018. He currently leads the league in many passing categories including 35 touchdowns.

Offensive Player of the Year: Malachi Jones, Wide Receiver, Albany Empire

Jones is proving his AFL OROY award in 2018 was not a fluke. He continues to impress with great hands and currently leads the league in receptions, touchdowns, yards and yards per game. He is a big reason why Albany has started 6-0.

Defensive Player of the Year: Joe Powell, Defensive Back, Baltimore Brigade

Powell continues to be one of the best all-around defensive players statistically. He is within several top ten categories including tackles, forced fumbles and interceptions.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Desmond Epps, Wide Receiver, Washington Valor

Epps leads all rookie receivers in receptions, yards, yards per game and average yards per reception. He is also in the top 10 for touchdowns. His offensive play has helped the Valor stay in the playoff hunt in defense of their championship from 2018.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Tevon Homer, Defensive Back, Albany Empire

Homer is one of the big reasons why the Albany Empire currently rank first in many defensive categories. He is leading the league in tackles and also has an interception this season.

Rookie of the Year: Fabian Guerra, Wide Receiver, Columbus Destroyers

Guerra has been one of the best all-around threats as a rookie. He currently is in the top five for touchdowns, yards and yards per game. He also leads the league with 2 kickoffs returned for a touchdown and also has added one rushing touchdown to his resumé.

His stellar play this season has resulted in an invitation to tryout for the XFL in 2020.

Coach of the Year: Rob Keefe, Albany Empire

Keefe has the Empire on top of the league for the second consecutive season. Halfway through the 2019 season, Albany is the lone undefeated team in the league. Keefe has not lost a beat from not only last year, but the 2016 campaign when he led the Orlando Predators to the best record in the league that season.
