After scoring three goals in France’s last three matches, Antoine Griezmann now has 41 goals for the French National Soccer Team. This ties him with Michel Platini as the national team’s third all-time leading scorer. Griezmann is eleven goals away from becoming France’s all-time leading scorer.
Griezmann, 30, has been with the national team since 2014. As Platini helped France win its first major title in 1984, Griezmann helped France win its second World Cup in 2018. Griezmann like Platini has done very well for his national team and his legacy is building. However, Griezmann still has plenty left to offer for both club and country. In other words, Griezmann is not through yet.

Quite frankly, France is going to need the very best from Griezmann in the coming months. France did not do well in their last three World Cup qualifying matches, so they’ll need Griezmann to be stronger when they play their final two qualifying matches in November. That goes for the entire national team. Griezmann’s two goals in France’s 2-0 win against Finland ended a five-game winless for Les Bleus. Considering Les Bleus are the defending World Cup champions, poor results in the qualifying phase for next year’s World Cup are unacceptable.
Luckily, Griezmann has a fresh start. Just before the international break, at the transfer deadline, Griezmann was loaned to Atlético Madrid. Now that the international break is done and he’s to continue playing at La Liga, Griezmann can keep putting good results to come back to the national team stronger with higher motivation. However, the rest of the star players must do the same.
Griezmann is to take part in Atlético Madrid’s Champions League campaign which begins next week. At this point in Griezmann’s career, it’s about playing his best soccer at the highest level. Griezmann has the true potential of becoming one of the greatest players in the history of the French National Team.
