Antetokounmpo Agrees to Supermax Extension with Milwaukee

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the league’s back-to-back MVP winner, and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a five-year, $228 million supermax extension with a player option after the fourth year. Milwaukee will lock in their franchise player for the next five seasons in what will be the largest contract in NBA history.

Antetokounmpo took to Twitter this afternoon, breaking the news and sharing his thoughts on his future in Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists last season, earning his second consecutive MVP award and being selected to the All-NBA first team. The superstar forward led the Bucks to a league-best 56-17 record and the first seed in the Eastern Conference, however, an early playoff exit led him to re-evaluate his time in Milwaukee. Nonetheless, he is back and ready to take this team to the next level.

The Bucks are once again strong favorites to win it all this season and for good reason. They brought in point guard Jrue Holiday to add to the lethal duo of Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. The Bucks also added D.J. Augustin, Bobby Portis, and Torrey Craig.

They’ll look to win their first championship since 1971 when they had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson.
