Athleticism7.5/10 Not an incredible athlete. Lacks foot speed which causes him to struggle against speed rushers like he did against K’Lavon Chaisson of LSU. If he’s forced out too wide, he’ll likely lose a one-on-one (against a speed rusher.) When moving north to south, he’s great, but east to west is a struggle.
Strength10/10 Incredible raw strength and heavy hands. It seems like he can absorb any bull rush.
Hands9.5/10 Fantastic at locking his hands onto the defender to guide him out of the gap. He produces powerful strikes and is a matchup nightmare.
Pass Blocking8/10 His lack of speed hurts him in some passing sets, but he’s normally solid. As I said earlier, he doesn’t fare well against speedy edge rushers that force him to flip his hips and run upfield.
Point of Attack10/10 Absolute domination. He does a fantastic job driving defenders back and keeping them away from the quarterback.
Football IQ9/10 Smart player who plays with a lot of discipline. He takes great angles and does a good job reading the defense.
Run Blocking10/10 Probably the best run blocker in the class. Crisp angles and an incredible ability to anchor the defender allow him to create holes for the ballcarrier. Impressive movement upfield to keep defenders away from the running back.
Bend8/10 Not amazing when he has to flip his hips toward the sideline, but he doesn’t let the defender get leverage on him. This goes hand-in-hand with his lack of foot speed and flexibility, albeit I’m not worried.
Competitive Toughness9/10 Incredible raw strength. He’s a monster in the trenches with fantastic drive back ability. Stays with the play even after the whistle at times.
Length9.5/10 Very long arms with great ability to extend. He’s got everything you want in a power blocker.
Overall

90.5/100 Thomas is one of my favorite players in this class. He’s a very clean run blocker with solid pass-blocking ability as well. He just does it all and is ready to step in and start instantly. This is a low risk, high reward player who should go top 10.

Round Grade: Top 10

Projected Draft Position: Top 20

Pro Comparison: Jason Peters
