As the deadline to sign Malcolm Butler to his franchise tender nears with no word of pen to paper, the New England Patriots may have to start looking for a new cornerback.
Jalen Tabor (nicknamed “Teez”), is a two time first team All ACC cornerback who only allowed a quarterback rating of 41.2 in his entire college career.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has always been a fan of Florida Gator prospects but has missed with draft picks Brandon Spikes, Jermaine Cunningham, and Dominique Easley.
Is the five time Super Bowl winning head coach looking for a possible reverse to his Gator curse?
Interest in the Florida cornerback became legitimized when the Patriots held Tabor for a visit this week. But with all the credentials that make Tabor such a great prospect, what is holding him back?
Tabor has dealt with numerous off the field issues with suspensions for getting into a fight with a teammate and declining to take a required drug test and taking to twitter to criticize the Florida Athletic Department.
Despite all the off field issues and questions about his speed after a subpar 4.52 seconds in the 40 yard evaluation at the NFL Scouting Combine . The 6 foot, 199 pound cornerback Tabor is the type of player the Patriots are looking for with currently no early round draft-picks.
