AL Power Rankings: Labor Day

AL Power Rankings: Labor Day: Tampa Bay Rays

With just three weeks left in the 2020 season, Let’s take a look at the American League Power Rankings on this wonderful Labor Day.

1. Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays are really starting to separate themselves from the rest of the AL East. With the next 13 games coming against Boston, Baltimore, and Washington, they have a real chance at not only clinching the AL East but possibly the top seed in the AL.

2. Oakland A’s

The A’s are coming off a tough series against the Padres after their COVID “suspension.” However, this team is the most complete in the AL. With Marcus Semien coming back this week, the A’s should be back to their old form.

3. Chicago White Sox

The only reason the White Sox are ahead of the Indians is that they lead them by 0.5 games in the AL Central. Don’t get me wrong, this team is awesome, but Cleveland may still be the better team.

4. Cleveland Indians

Pitching, pitching, pitching. That’s how this team will make a World Series run. It also doesn’t hurt that the offense, specifically Francisco Lindor, is starting to wake up.

5. Minnesota Twins

What should we make of the Twins? The offense isn’t as good as it should be, but the pitching has been outstanding. Let’s see how the Twins do with Josh Donaldson and Byron Buxton back in the lineup.

6. Houston Astros

Injuries are starting to pile up, but they are not dead. They are all but guaranteed a playoff spot at this point. It will be exciting to see how the Astros improve when they all come back from injury.

7. Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are taking advantage of this terrible streak by the Yankees and are now officially in second place in the AL East. Once again, this team is blossoming perfectly.

8. Baltimore Orioles

Now before you New Yorkers start throwing trash at me, let me explain. The Yankees are absolutely terrible right now. Also, they almost got swept by Baltimore. The Yankees will ultimately make the playoffs, but Baltimore is playing good baseball right now.

9. New York Yankees

This team is terrible right now. Every single player may be hurt, but they are terrible. They need to figure something out quickly.

10. Detriot Tigers

This young core is very intriguing. They have a great young pitching staff and they are winning games. The Tigers won’t make the postseason, but 2021 should be a fun year in Detriot.

11. Seattle Mariners

The Mariners are starting to sniff .500. They will be an exciting team to watch in 2021 when as they continue to bring up the kids.

12. Los Angles Angels

Shout out to Mike Trout for 300 home runs. That’s about it.

13. Kansas City Royals

Pretty terrible, but they have some promising, young pitching. It is still shocking that they continue to hold on to tradable players.

14. Boston Red Sox

Hey, they had a slight winning streak so they move up for once.

15. Texas Rangers

Probably should have blown it up at the deadline boys.

  1. The Angels should be a lot higher and the Astros should be near the bottom. The Angels destroyed the Astros over the weekend and had a four game sweep. Those Mighty Astros don’t look Mighty anymore. Yikes.
