The Los Angeles Rams nearly had a big come from behind win off a 25 point rally in the second half. They fell just short in a 35-32 loss over the Buffalo Bills. At first, it appeared as if the Bills were going to end the day at 3-0 with a blowout victory. With the victory over the Rams, this marks the first time Buffalo has started 3-0 in two consecutive seasons since 1991-92.
Los Angeles opened up with good field position, but kicker Samuel Sloman missed a 53-yard field goal in the Rams’ first drive. The Bills responded with an 11-play, 57-yard drive. This led to a 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Allen to tight end Lee Smith. A monstrous performance on offense ensued. It all started with a Jared Goff interception. Buffalo capitalized with a 1-yard touchdown run by Allen to extend the lead to 14-0. The Rams responded with a 30-yard field goal by Sloman off a 13-play, 63-yard drive to decrease their lead to 11.
However, the Bills bounced back with a 3-yard touchdown pass from Allen to tight end Tyler Kroft to give them a 21-3 lead at halftime. With 8:05 remaining in the third quarter, Buffalo extended their lead with another Allen touchdown pass, this time, a 4-yarder to Stefon Diggs.
Despite being down 28-3, the Rams held a minor rally to get back into the game with Buffalo. It started with a 1-yard touchdown run by Goff. However, the close comeback was not solely due to the offense’s success. The defense played its crucial part in the game, including John Johnson III’s interception on the 41-yard line. This helped set up a quick 25-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Robert Woods. Towards the end of the third quarter, linebacker Leonard Floyd picked up his third sack, which led to a Rams’ 16-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
With 4:30 left to go, defensive end Aaron Donald sacked Allen to set up another Los Angeles score; a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Darrell Henderson Jr to give the Rams their first lead of the game (32-28). The game became interesting again with a controversial pass interference call on Rams’ cornerback Darious Williams after an incomplete pass on the Rams’ 13-yard line.
Allen capitalized with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Kroft with 15 seconds left in the game to give the Bills a 35-32 victory and 3-0 start.

The Bills will look for a 4-0 start when they hit the road against a Las Vegas Raiders team with a struggling defense. Meanwhile, the Rams will look to bounce back as they return home to SoFi Stadium against a winless New York Giants team on Sunday.
