Robert Wood signs extension with Los Angeles Rams

Wide receiver Robert Woods signed a contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams on Friday.

The deal is for four years and $65 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. It has $32 million guaranteed and has a maximum value of $68 million. Woods is now signed through the 2025 season.

“(McVay) just kind of put his arm around me and said he’s happy to have me here, that I’ve been a true competitor since I’ve stepped on this team,” Woods said after Thursday’s practice. “He said he’s been watching me since USC, (the) Buffalo (Bills), that’s the reason why I’m a part of this team now. He just reassured me this deal would be getting taken care of this week. Really have no other concerns. We take each other’s word, we believe in it, we go forward. We’re locked on, going to get this thing done, and look forward to Philadelphia.”

Woods signed with the Rams as a free agent in 2017. He has 238 catches for 3,239 yards and 13 touchdowns. Woods has also rushed for 298 yards and two scores. On Sunday he had six receptions for 105 yards.

Woods is deserving of the extension. In the last three seasons, he’s been in the top 11 receivers in receptions, receiving yards, and yards after a catch. He had two straight seasons with 1,000 yards receiving and last year led all NFL receivers with 577 yards after the catch.

Woods is the third Rams player to get an extension in the last two weeks. Jalen Ramsey and Cooper Kupp have also gotten extensions.
