It’s been five days since the Cincinnati Reds last took the diamond, so why not play two games their first day back?
In an important series with the Pittsburgh Pirates with momentum on the line, a Reds player tested positive for COVID-19. The rest of the series was canceled, and the Reds remained with a record of 9-11.
A couple of roster moves were made in that infielder Christian Colon was optioned to the alternate training site while the Reds claimed Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Williams, who was also assigned to the alternate site.

Wednesday begins an eight-day road trip for Cincinnati with stops in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Milwaukee. The Reds stand five games back from the first-place Chicago Cubs.
Jesse Winker found his hot bat last week, culminating in his current team-leading .365 batting average. He went deep twice in the last game against the Pirates.
Luis Castillo will start the first game against Kansas City. He looks for his first win of the season and pitched six innings in his last outing, also against the Royals. Castillo‘s trouble is not from the long ball as he has only given up just one big fly this season.
Trevor Bauer has arguably been one of the best pitchers in the National League, creating a lights-out duo with Sonny Gray. Bauer’s 0.93 earned run average speaks to his dominance along with holding opposing batters to a .109 batting average so far. He is one of just six pitchers in baseball to throw a complete game.
Cincinnati plays Game 1 of its doubleheader in Kansas City on Wednesday at 5:05 p.m. EST.
