The Browns had more hype than anyone heading into the 2019 season. The second season of Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Denzel Ward had many people excited. It got even more exciting when the Browns traded for mega-star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Things did not go well. They finished 6-10, Mayfield regressed, first, and only year head coach Freddie Kitchens was fired immediately after the last game, Beckham came with a lot of drama, and the whole defense was horrible. There is still a lot of promise with this team. With the 2020 draft right around the corner and a ton of cap space, the Browns have a good shot at this year being the breakout year.

Round 1, Pick 10: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The biggest need for the Browns is by far their offensive line, especially at tackle. A lot of people have Tristan Wirfs or Jedrick Wills Jr.as their number one tackles. I personally am a big fan of Thomas’ game and have been the three years he was the starter at Georgia. I think he is much better in the passing game which is one of the reasons that Mayfield struggled last season. If the Browns can give their QB time to make plays, they will be in good shape.
Round 2, Pick 41: Antoine Winfield Jr., Saftey, Minnesota
The Browns are going to need some help in the secondary. They just released Morgan Burnett and it looks like Damarious Randall will leave via free agency. I fell in love with Minnesota this year, and a big part is because of Winfield. if he has a good combine, he WILL become a first-rounder. I think he is a perfect fit for the Browns and I hope he falls here.
Round 3, Pick 74: Julian Okwara, Edge, Notre Dame
Originally, I had Okwara going late first-round. But I think that he will fall now due to a lack of need, and the fact that there are better edge-rushers in this draft. The Browns really jumped the shark trading for Olivier Vernon last season. Don’t get me wrong, he is a good player, but he cost way too much money to justify keeping him for the production he is giving you. I like Okwara a lot. He is not a “beat you off the line guy,” he will dominate your offensive tackles with his brute strength and length.
Round 3, Pick 90: Evan Weaver, LB, Cal
The Browns landed an extra third-rounder with the Duke Johnson trade. They will look to possibly replace Joe Schobert sometime in this draft, and why not pick one of the most underrated players in the country? Weaver led the nation the past two years in tackles in a very underrated Cal defense. His biggest problem will be his speed, which is the same thing people said about Schobert.
Round 4, Pick 112: Ben Bredeson, G, Michigan
As I said earlier, the Browns are in desperate need to bolster that offensive line. They may look to free agency with all their money, but they should look to add some depth in the draft. Bredeson is a big 6-foot-5, 325-pound guard who will work perfectly in the Browns system.
Round 6, Pick 187: Jacob Breeland, TE, Oregon
I am a big fan of David Njoku, but he has not stayed on the field in his short career. When he is on the field, he has stone hands and disappears sometimes. Breeland was a favorite target for Justin Herbert at Oregon and maybe he can be a late-round steal or the motivation for Njoku to take a firm grasp as the number one TE.
Round 7, Pick 236: Joe Bachie, LB, Michigan State
I said the Browns would look for some linebacker depth. Why not go with the hometown kid? Bachie was trending towards a high day-two pick before he lost eligibility due to a failed drug test (not sure what substance.) I could see Bachie get drafted as high as the fourth round due to his incredible sense to get to the ball. But his lack of athletism is his biggest crutch. He has average speed and poor coverage skills, and the failed drug test certainly won’t help his cause. But he burst on the college scene, maybe he can do the same in the NFL.
