Well, folks. Here it is. The final game of the MLB season. The last chance to play MLB DFS for five months. Of course, we still have plenty of DFS coverage for the NHL and NFL, but let’s take a look at some values and see if we can finish the 2019 MLB season on a winning note.
All prices are from DraftKings
Ryan Zimmerman ($7,800 Captain, $5,200 Utility) – We love fairytale endings in baseball. Now, Zimmerman may re-sign with the Washington Nationals, but we may be watching the last game he plays in a Nats uniform. He has been there since the franchise moved to DC in 2005. Zimm had a first-inning base hit off of Zack Greinke in Game Three. He is also 4-10 against the Astros’ righty. At this price, I’m willing to throw Zimmerman in the Captain’s spot as he looks to possibly put a wrap on a wonderful 15 seasons in the nation’s capital.
Yuli Gurriel ($10,500 Captain, $7,000 Utility) – The Houston first baseman jumped on Max Scherzer in Game One with a two-run double in the first inning. This is the lowest his price has been since the beginning of the series, and Gurriel has been on base in each game against Washington (7-25, 2 BB).
Adam Eaton ($11,100 Captain, $7,400 Utility) – After going hitless in games four and five, Eaton blasted one last night. Overall, he is 3-7 with a BB vs Greinke in his career. The Nats’ right fielder is 7-21 in the series with three walks and a couple of bombs. As I’ve said before, it is generally a smart move to play a guy who hits at the top of the order for the road team. You may get that ninth inning at-bat which makes you the cash.
Jose Altuve ($13,800 Captain, $9,200 Utility) – If you are going to spend up on offense, why not play the guy who has proven to be a solid postseason performer? He is 9-28 with three doubles this series. Since 2017, Altuve has played in eight postseason series. He has NOT homered in only one (2018 ALCS, which ironically is the only series Houston lost). In that time, the Houston second baseman has slashed .313/.371/.591 with 10 doubles and 13 HRs in just 194 PAs.
***Notes – Zack Greinke and Max Scherzer will be the starters tonight. I really don’t trust either one. Although Greinke only gave up a run in Game Three, he couldn’t get out of the fifth inning before allowing seven hits and three walks. Scherzer missed Game Five due to back issues. He could, and likely will, get through it tonight, but we don’t know how it will affect him. Remember that each team has just about every pitcher available. If Max’s back flares up or Greinke has trouble early, they will get the hook quickly. With both of them over 10K, I’d roll with the bats tonight.
