HEAT vs Bucks Reaction

Jacari McRae | October 27th, 2019

Despite missing key players, the Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat rallied back from a huge 21-point deficit and defeated the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami trailed 74-53 with less than 11 minutes left in the third period. However, the Heat ended up winning the second half and overtime 78-56 to complete the comeback win.

Here are my four takeaways from Saturday night’s victory over the Bucks.

Bam(almost) messed around and got a triple-double

This was arguably the best performance of Bam Adebayo‘s career so far. Adebayo was active on both ends of the floor. He did a great job of finding open teammates, attacking the glass, drawing fouls, and made a game-saving block in overtime. Bam finished the night with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists–two shy of a triple-double.

Goran excels in his new role

One player who has accepted his new bench role is Goran Dragic. And so far this season he’s been excelling at his new role. Averaging around 30 minutes a game, Dragic has been producing big numbers off the bench–at least while Jimmy Butler and Dion Waiters are out. On Saturday, Dragic took on the scoring load to help lead the Heat over the Bucks. Dragic ended the night with 25 points while adding eight assists and six rebounds.

Nunn Better

In his second start of the season, Kendrick Nunn backed up his 24 point performance by with another solid performance. The Heat rookie guard provided plenty of scoring and playmaking in this one. Nunn fouled out before the end of regulation, closing with 18 points and five assists.

It’s very early, but the Heat guard is making a name for himself while making roster decisions tougher for Erik Spoelstra. Of course, it never hurts to have too many talented players.

Free throws

The Heat had an opportunity to close the game in regulation. If it wasn’t for the missed free throws in the final seconds–including two by Justise Winslow that would’ve clinched the game–the Bucks would have lost in regulation. The Heat also missed four in a row late in overtime that would have allowed Milwaukee to force a second overtime. Still, the Heat were able to overcome their late free throw struggles to win the game.

As a team, the Heat shot 77 percent from the charity stripe. Hopefully, the Heat can convert their free throws the next time they are in this situation.

Next up: The Heat take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday at 7PMET.
