MLB DFS: NLDS Game Five Slate

It all comes down to this for the four teams in the National League. Two will move on, and two will go home. Two teams will feel the thrill of victory, and two will know the agony of defeat. Okay, screw it. No more cliches. We’re here to make money, so let’s get down to it.

The Bats

Yadier Molina ($3,900) – Although Mike Foltynewicz outdueled Jack Flaherty in Game Two of the series, Molina had two of the three hits that Folty allowed. Yadi stepped up last game when he tied the game in the eighth and then won the game in the tenth with a sacrifice fly. Playing the hot hand is important in MLB DFS especially in the playoffs. It also doesn’t hurt that Yadi is 7-18 with a HR against Folty in his career.

Justin Turner ($4,200) – Big Red is on fire. He is 6-18 with two doubles and two bombs in the series so far. Turner is another guy who steps up when the lights shine the brightest. He has a career .315/.411/.528 career postseason slash to go along with 13 doubles, a triple, and nine homers. Sample size? 231 PAs should suffice.

Trea Turner ($4,900) – Another Turner who has been raking this series is the one at shortstop for the Washington Nationals. He is the highest-priced SS tonight and rightfully so. Turner is 6-17 in the series and has been seeing the ball well with only a walk and a strikeout. Walker Buehler was lights out when these two teams met in Game One, but with Turner’s speed combined with him putting the ball in play, there is a safe floor.

Adam Duvall ($4,600) – In his first taste of the playoffs, Duvall hasn’t looked shaken at all. He is 3-7 with a HR and five driven in for the series. That one bomb? A pinch-hit two-run blast off Jack Flaherty in Game Two. Today he will start in LF for the Atlanta Braves. The power has always been real for Duvall and, including the homer on Friday, he is 2-5 with two bombs off the Cardinals’ righty.

The Arms

All four starters today are good options. It all depends on what you want your lineup to look like. Here is a small note on each of them.

Mike Foltynewicz ($6,000) – He is the cheapest starter today by a good amount. If you are looking to get some big guns in your lineups, he needs to be there.

Jack Flaherty ($7,400) – He probably has a safer floor and a longer leash than Folty. If you don’t trust the Braves’ big righty, Flaherty is a good option to save a bit of salary.

Walker Buehler ($9,000) – He was utterly dominant in his start in Game One only allowing one hit and three walks while striking out eight in six innings. You can’t really go wrong here, but the price may be a little restrictive if you are looking for big bats.

Stephen Strasburg ($9,400) – He has been dominant in his postseason career allowing only two ER in 28 innings with a ridiculous 38/4 K/BB rate. Strasburg has also never allowed a postseason HR. Although he is the most expensive, he has a track record unmatched by the others.
