Let the fun begin. Playoffs? You’re talking about…playoffs? Yes, Jim Mora. Yes, we are. The best time of the year. Soon all four major sports will be playing at the same time. We can go back and forth discussing and arguing whether Major League Baseball should keep its current one-game Wild Card playoff setup, but the fact of the matter is, it’s downright entertaining. It’s exciting to watch two teams fight it out, with it all on the line, in a winner-take-all single-elimination style game. You never know what’s going to happen. The amount of drama and emotion hanging on the balance of every pitch is what makes baseball the greatest game in the world.
This year’s NL Wild Card game features the Washington Nationals hosting the Milwaukee Brewers. The only thing that could potentially make a game-seven atmosphere type of game better? Playing a little DFS and winning money while you enjoy the game. Here are some picks to consider using on DraftKings.

Yasmani Grandal ($9,900 Captain)
Going up against Max Scherzer isn’t an ideal situation, but we should try to save salary at the Captain spot. It’ll help us put together a solid lineup around him. Grandal hit 28 bombs on the year. The third-most home runs on the team, behind Christian Yelich and Mike Moustakas. If Mad Max has any issues or lets one leak over the middle of the plate, Grandal is more than capable of taking him yard. Also, unlike the Nats, the Brewers are only carrying two catchers in this game. The chances of Grandal exiting prior to extra innings are slim. Four to five at-bats can be expected.
Max Scherzer ($12,600 Utility)
He hasn’t exactly been his dominant self since returning on August 22nd, but you just have to roll with Mad Max here. The guy is a bulldog and has playoff experience, whether it’s been a great experience or not (3.73 ERA). Also, in 82 career playoff innings pitched, he has 100 strikeouts. The Nationals went easy on his pitch count when he first returned, but he has now reached 100 pitches or more in each of his last two starts to end the season. He hasn’t pitched seven innings in any of the starts, but he’s reached double-digit strikeouts in each of the last two as well. We’ll take six innings and ten strikeouts any day of the week. Roll with the ace.
Adam Eaton ($8,000 Utility)
With Eaton, I do worry about the possibility of him coming out of the game later on. But at this price, if he’s in the starting lineup, you roll with him. Eaton is a very good contact hitter. We’ve seen in the past how these elimination games can go. An unlikely hero, often times a pure contact hitter turns into Barry Bonds for a day. Eaton presents the ability to swipe and a bag (13 SB this season) and hit a home run (15 HR this season).
Orlando Arcia ($4,200 Utility)
The Brewers’ everyday shortstop is so cheap that we just have to plug him in. Over his last six games, Arcia went 8-22 (.364 avg) with 7 RBIs. In a very short sample, Arcia is 2-3 with a double against Mad Max. Arcia will likely hit towards the bottom of the order, and he might receive the best pitches to hit other than the pitcher’s spot in the order. If Max thinks he can breeze right through Arcia, he’ll at least have the opportunity to put a good swing on something.
