The San Francisco 49ers have proven that they are worth a little bit of hype this season with a 2-0 start. Coming into the season, the prognosticators were saying that they were an 8-8 team at best, and now they have two wins on the road to start the season, so they’re well on their way to a playoff-contending record. But, there are some takeaways worth talking about. In this article, I will describe their fantastic start to the season and give some insight into their future and give some takeaways.
Describing the 2-0 Start and giving insight
The Niners had a tough first-week matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa Bay, but the Niners were up to the test and outmatched the Buccaneers physically, sacking Jameis Winston three times and pressuring the hurried Winston into turning the ball over three times, which the Niners turned into 14 points. All in all, the Niners ended up winning 31-17. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo ended up throwing for one touchdown and one interception which was returned for a touchdown. Some takeaways from this game were the fact that the Buccaneers had their way with the Niners in the running game, gaining 121 yards. Penalties also killed the Niners, taxing them twelve times for 87 yards. But, a team can’t be perfect so going into their Week two matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals they needed to work on some things.
The Niners went into their week two matchup against the Bengals feeling quite good about themselves, and they had every reason to feel this way. The Niners absolutely dominated the Bengals, gaining over 600 yards of offense, and winning 41-17. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 297 passing yards and three touchdowns with an interception. As for the running game, the Niners showed their finesse and power gaining well over 200 yards on the ground and physically dominating the Bengals on defense, sacking quarterback Andy Dalton four times and forcing him into one interception. All in all, this was a complete game for the Niners, there were no really bad things to talk about in this game, aside from penalties once again restricting the Niners, getting two touchdowns called back because of offensive holding. This was a complete game for the Niners, so let’s talk about their future.
The Niners Immediate Future
The Niners go back home for a week three game against the Pittsburgh Steelers who have started 0-2 and have no real identity. The Niners have a really good chance in this game, usually against big teams like the Steelers people would’ve said that they have no chance, but I know they have a really good chance to win this game. There’s a very good chance the Niners could go into their week four bye with a 3-0 record. This next game is absolutely essential, this is a must-win game in my opinion. If the Niners don’t win this game then they won’t make the playoffs because their schedule later in the season is gruesome, with the last five weeks of the season being against the Ravens, Saints, Falcons, Rams, and the Seahawks to close out the season at Century Link Field. So the Niners have a really good future as for this season, but i wouldn’t call them a team to be feared quite yet, as they look slightly shaky and they might be bullied by teams that are talent speaking, superior to them.
Concluding Thoughts
In conclusion, the Niners have been to say the very least, impressive; and they may be able to go to the playoffs if they can prove that they are worthy of sticking with teams like the Steelers and Ravens and Seahawks.
I hope you all enjoyed!
