You know the drill! Here are my three best options for next week, all under 30% owned in Yahoo!
Merrill Kelly ARI vs COL 6/18 (17% owned)
Merrill Kelly has been on fire lately! In his last three games, he is sporting a 0.81 ERA, 7.25 K/9, 0.81 BB/9, 2.97 FIP, and 3.70 xFIP. So, what has changed in his last three games? He has upped his cutter usage from typically 20% to about 30%. Which is clearly working as in those three games he is posting an insane 39.1 O-Swing% to go along with a 12.0 SwStr%. Kelly gets the Rockies who on the road have to be one of the worst offenses in the league. They lead the league in strikeouts when on the road which Kelly should definitely benefit from. They also are 29th in wOBA, 29th in wRC+, and 30th in OBP. Given that combined with how Kelly has been pitching this is the makings of a very solid stream option.
Adrian Sampson TEX vs CLE 6/18 (29% owned)
I recently talked about Sampson in my most recent article. He has changed his approach and has strikeout upside (ex. 11 strikeouts vs KC) along with above-average command. At home, Sampson has a 2.70 ERA and a 4-1 record, while also posting a 1.99 ERA in the last 30 days. The Indians aren’t the best on the road as they are 24th in home runs, 20th in ISO, and 27th in wOBA. With Sampson’s new approach and the Indians woes on the road, this looks to be another solid option.
Dylan Bundy BAL @SEA 6/20 (11% owned)
Mr. Bundy has been a lot like Mr. Sampson. He has changed his approach and been on a hot streak lately. He has a 3.38 ERA over the last 30 days and has posted an above average SwStr% in his last three outings. The Mariners started the season off hot but have since been a mediocre offense. They lead the league in strikeouts and have a horrible 11.4 SwStr%. With Bundy’s late success at missing bats and the Mariners tendencies to miss a lot of pitches, this streaming option seems like a golden opportunity.
