The Dallas Cowboys are more determined than ever to become a serious and respectable contender for the Super Bowl. It’s been over 24 years since their last Super Bowl triumph and they’re eager to put an end to an era of disappointment. In other words, the Cowboys want to become champions again with the hopes of starting a new dynasty.
Dallas has plenty of talent. It’s safe to say that they have more than enough talent to be a favorite to hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
With Mike McCarthy as the head coach, big changes are quite inevitable. This is a new Dallas Cowboys team.
Here are three bold predictions for the offense in 2020:
Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb will combine for at least 3,000 receiving yards.
The triple-threat wide receiver squad is immensely talented. This corps gives Dallas a chance of having the No. 1 passing offense in the league. Also, Dallas’ chance of leading the league in total offense increases with this new squad. All three are capable of torching opposing secondaries and Dallas needs an offense that can catch balls down the field. Opposing defenses will have difficulty covering all three.
Last year, Cooper and Gallup each had over 1,100 receiving yards. With a dynamic duo becoming a triple threat, the Cowboys’ offense only strengthens and the momentum intensifies dramatically.
Dallas has the one of best wide receiver threats in the league with these three young stars. With defenses likely to struggle to contain them, all three have the potential of amassing at least 1,000 receiving yards.
Ezekiel Elliott will rush for at least 1,500 yards.
Elliott has not amassed 1,500 yards on the ground since his rookie season. Last year wasn’t a good year for him even though he posted over 1,300 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns.
Last season, Elliott had four games with less than 50 rushing yards. He also had a total of nine games in which he had less than 100 rushing yards. This isn’t good considering that he was paid big money before the season began. It’s worrisome to have an average season after receiving a huge payday.
Elliott is going to make up for his bad games from last season. The Cowboys have a fresh start, and it’s sorely needed. In Elliott’s case, a fresh start means he can right the wrongs, and his improved performances will increase his confidence which will intensify his motivation. With a much-needed fresh start, Elliott is going to make the most it and play a huge part in the offense’s success and dominance.
Dak Prescott will have at least 5,000 passing yards and 30 touchdowns.
Prescott has an arsenal of weapons around him, especially in the passing game. He threw for 4,902 yards last season, which put him second in the league. His 30 touchdowns put him fourth in the league. But now that he has three very talented receivers, Prescott has a chance of posting better statistical results and setting new records. For the young quarterback, the more weapons, the better.
Aside from his new triple-threat wide receiver option, Prescott and Blake Jarwin can get along nicely. Jarwin is poised to have a remarkable season and is expected to go into this season as the starting tight end after appearing as a backup for the last two years. In addition, Prescott and Elliott have connected well in the passing game.
Prescott needs the protection and blocking from the offensive line. While the offensive line lost center Travis Frederick to retirement in March, Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and La’el Collins are still available so the Cowboys’ offensive line is in good condition if it can stay healthy.
With the protection and the weapons in the passing game, Prescott has the potential to be the league’s top passer. Kellen Moore, the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator and offensive play-caller, is fortunate to build an offense full of talent. In Prescott’s case, playing under an offensive scheme led by Moore is beneficial and ideal. With Prescott understanding Moore’s offensive style, he is able to boast positive results and the offense does well as a result.
The Cowboys’ training camp begins less than three months. Dallas’ offseason has been effective following positive results in free agency and the draft. An effective training camp and preseason will do the Cowboys good as every second of practice and training counts.
The goal is to enter camp with motivated, prepared, and concentrated players. The Cowboys need to be on top of their game. To play sublime football, the Cowboys need precision.
