Report: Quinton Dunbar, DeAndre Baker Released on Bond and Terms

While the NFL has witnessed several arrests of players due to gun violations, there is finally some positive news regarding the arrests of two. Quinton Dunbar and DeAndre Baker appeared before the Broward County judge this morning and were each given their respective terms.

Dunbar was the first to appear and was released on a $100,000 bond plus an order to surrender any and all firearms to the police within 48 hours.

The attorney for the 27-year-old Seattle Seahawks cornerback stated he has five affidavits from witnesses that exonerate his client in an armed robbery. Dunbar’s lawyer said that the court had the five affidavits appear in court but despite that, the court requested his appearance.

New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker was given a more strict punishment than Dunbar. There were no advocates for the actions of Baker and he is being released on double the bond at $200,000. In addition, the 22-year-old has to surrender his gun permit, is detained to the state of Florida, and is denied any contact with the victims.

For Baker, his restraining order in Florida could create some issues once the NFL season gets underway as he will have to travel to East Rutherford, N.J., and eight other cities.

According to the Miramar Police Department, Dunbar and Baker were partying at a cookout on May 13 when an argument started and Baker pulled out a firearm. Cops say that both players started taking guests’ belongings, including a few very valuable watches. Baker then proceeded to direct another man at the cookout to shoot someone who had just arrived.

It is assumed by witnesses that the robbery was planned as there were several cars in line for the two cornerbacks which swiftly yanked them from the scene after the incident started.

Baker was part of the Giants’ young secondary that showed optimism last season. Giants general manager Dave Gettleman traded up to select baker in the first round of last year’s draft.

Dunbar was acquired this offseason from the Washington Redskins.
