Report: Jaguars to Decline Option on Leonard Fournette

As many teams make decisions on the options of their players, the Jaguars have declined that of a star. Jacksonville has reportedly declined the option of former No. 4 overall pick Leonard Fournette, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This comes amid rumors about Fournette’s trade availability. This would appear to shoot plenty of his trade value as he will only be able to give one season to a new team.

The Jaguars have been cleaning house since mid-2019 and trades have included big names such as Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye, and Nick Foles. The sports world has also witnessed rumors about Yannick Ngakoue requesting a trade.

Fournette, 25, has played three seasons for the Jaguars and has only appeared in 36 of 48 possible games. The star out of LSU set the school’s single-season record for rushing yards with 1,953 and rushing touchdowns with 22.

Since coming into the NFL, the 6-foot, 235-pound running back has totaled 2,631 yards with 17 touchdowns and an average of four yards per run.  He helped the Jaguars to the AFC Championship as a rookie with an impressive season.

With Fournette’s free agent sweepstakes arriving sooner than expected, teams like the Falcons, Eagles, and many more will surely be interested in the former star’s services.
