Colts Take Eason, Ending QB’s Draft Slide

The wait is finally over for Jacob Eason. The former Washington Husky is heading to Indianapolis.

Eason was a projected to be a second-round pick but had to wait through the duration of Day 2 and into Day 3 of the NFL Draft to hear his name called. Eason began his college career at Georgia, but after starting his freshman year, he suffered a knee injury in the 2017-18 opener. Fellow draftee Jake Fromm took over and beat him out for the starting job.

Eason, wanting a starting role, transferred to Washington.

Eason totaled 3,132 yards his senior season at Washington, completing passes at a 64.2 percent clip and posting 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Eason was the top-rated quarterback coming out of high school but did not live up to that top-tier billing in college.

Eason slots into a spot behind veteran Philip Rivers. He will have Marlon Mack, T.Y. Hilton, and fellow draftees Michael Pittman and Jonathan Taylor to work with once he is eventually handed the keys to the franchise.
