41. Indianapolis Colts (via Cleveland)
The Indianapolis Colts, via a trade with Cleveland Browns, selected Jonathan Taylor, the running back from Wisconsin with the 41st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Taylor spent three seasons with Wisconsin and recorded 826 rushing attempts for 6,174 yards and 50 rushing touchdowns.
He also chipped in 42 receptions for 407 yards and five receiving touchdowns.
Taylor’s strengths include his physicality, quickness, and top-end speed. He can burst through the hole and put together moves in tight spaces. His greatest weakness is his pass protection ability.
The Colts ranked seventh in rushing yards-per-game in the 2019 season and Taylor is a solid addition to that roster.
42. Jacksonville Jaguars
With the 42nd pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Colorado wide receiver, Laviska Shenault Jr.
Shenault spent three years at Colorado and, during his career, he recorded 149 receptions for 1,943 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns in addition to 42 rushing attempts for 280 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
Shenault played all three wide receiver spots at Colorado and mixes speed with strength after the catch. Standing at 6-foot-1 and 227 pounds, his physicality is a great combination of size, strength, and speed. He has above-average versatility and has an exceptional burst into the routes.
43. Chicago Bears
With the 43rd pick, the Chicago Bears selected tight end, Cole Kmet, out of Notre Dame.
He stands at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds and spent three years with the Fighting Irish. In his last season with Notre Dame, Kmet recorded 43 receptions for 515 yards and six receiving touchdowns.
In his career with Notre Dame, he posted 60 total receptions for 691 yards and the six touchdowns he scored last season.
Kmet has been a better pass threat than run blocker and needs improvement in his run blocking. He does a good job of staying connected to base blocks and he gets defense off of him for catch space in addition to getting the ball where it is thrown. As a member of the Bears, he should bulk up, build body control, and gain more consistency.
44. Cleveland Browns
With the 44th pick, the Cleveland Browns selected Grant Delpit.
Delpit, the 6-foot-3, 213-pound safety is another pick from LSU. Delpit spent three years with the Tigers and recorded 199 total tackles, 120 solo, and 79 assists. He also added 17.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, eight defensive interceptions, 24 pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles.
Delpit was hampered last season with a high ankle sprain, but still posted 65 total tackles, 28 solo and 27 assists with four and a half tackles for loss, two sacks, two defensive interceptions, seven pass deflections, and one fumble recovery and forced fumble.
Delpit shows grit and determination, shown by playing through his injury last season and his physicality will help run a defensive line. He has good rush into the backfield when needed to set edges, he covers with solid anticipation, and he has the size and length to challenge and win contested catches.
Cleveland is in great need for a defensive tackle and had Delpit not been injured last year, he surely would have gone in the first round. He is the playmaker Cleveland is lacking and this should be a solid fit.
